APEDA Registration Online & APEDA License in India

The Agricultural and Processed Food product Export Development Authority (APEDA) was established by the govt. of India. Agricultural and Processed Food product Export Development Authority Act the Parliament in Dec, 1985. The Act (2 of 1986) came into impact from 13 February, 1986 by a notification issued within the Gazette of India.

APEDA Registration

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority or also known as APEDA was established by the Indian Government under the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority Act 1985.The APEDA Authority replaced the Processed Food Export Promotion Council (PFEPC). Under the Ministry of Commerce and Industries, APEDA promotes export of agricultural and processed food products from India.

APEDA registration is necessary because it is chargeable for export promotion and development of regular product like Vegetables, Fruits, Poultry product, Meat, farm product, biscuits, confectionery, bakery shop product, jaggery, honey, and sugar product, chocolates, cocoa product, flower gardening product, pickles, etc.

Partnership Firm Registration

APEDA has the authority with the responsibility of export promotion and development of the following scheduled products:

  1. i. Vegetables, Fruits and their Products.
  2. ii. Meat and Meat Products.
  3. iii. Poultry and Poultry Products.
  4. iv. Dairy Products.
  5. v. Biscuits and Bakery Products.
  6. vi. Honey and Sugar Products.
  7. vii. Cocoa and its products, chocolates of all kinds.
  8. viii. Alcoholic and Non-Alcoholic Beverages.
  9. ix. Cereal Products.
  10. x. Groundnuts, Peanuts and Walnuts.
  11. xi. Floriculture and Floriculture Products.
  12. xii. Herbal and Medicinal Plants.

FUNCTIONS OF APEDA

  1. (i) Development of industries linked to the scheduled products for export by way of providing financial assistance or otherwise for undertaking surveys and feasibility studies, participation in enquiry capital through joint ventures.
  2. (ii)Promotion of export-oriented production and development of the Scheduled products in terms of exports.
  3. (iii) Training in various aspects of the industries connected to the scheduled products.
  4. (iv) Registration of exporters of the scheduled products on payment of required fees.
  5. (v) Improvement in packaging of the Scheduled products.
  6. (vi) Fixing of standards and specifications for the scheduled products for the purpose of exports.

Documents from APDA Registration

  1. Duly signed an application form.
  2. Copy of Import-Export code issued by D.G.F.T.
  3. Bank Certificate duly signed by the authorities.
  4. Bank A/c. statement of the bank account of the firm for last 2 months.
  5. Cancelled cheque.

REGISTRATION PROCESS

The applicant is required to submit an application form to register under APEDA within a month from the date of business undertaking.

Once the applicant submitted all the required forms and pays the fees, the concerned authority will issue a Registration-cum-Membership-Certificate (RCMC). This is a onetime registration, and the registered person has to follow the rules and regulations under the APEDA Act.

The application for registration shall be created within a month from the date of enterprise of export. the involved Authority could for valid reason extend the deadline for getting APEDA registration for such amount if they realize it applicable.

It is important to notice that registration is one-time registration and shall be valid unless an equivalent is off by the Authority. All the registered members area unit ruled by the foundations & laws below Agriculture and Processed Food merchandise Export Development Authority Act (APEDA ACT).

ONLINE REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

  • Sign-up through the APEDA Website.
  • The exporter requires to first enter the basic detail, IE CODE, Mobile number and Email ID and submit.
  • An OTP for confirming the details will be sent on E-mail and Mobile number. Exporter should enter the OTP of both mobile and E-mail on the verification screen to verify the both and click on Submit to proceed for application.
  • After verification confirmation, exporter would require to fill online application and transfer the required documents. The documents should be within the JPEG, PDF or PNG formats only. The exporter should to enter all needed information and guarantee correct information is submitted within the online application form.
  • Online application can be completed in one or more sessions by revisiting the website using the assigned OTP of E-mail and Mobile. After filling all the fields, the exporter can save the information in between by using the Save button. The exporter can edit the filled data until online payment is not done.
  • The exporter may submit registration fees of Rs. 5000/- plus Rs. 900 GST through online or through demand draft in favors of ‘APEDA’ at respective cities of APEDA offices.
  • After the payment is done, an application number will be generated. Please save the application number for future reference.
  • The exporter can view the status of the RCMC application by clicking the "Track Application" link to view the status of application by submitting the IE Code and Application number until it is issued.
  • In case of any shortcoming is observed in the application the exporter will require to resubmit the document online by following the above steps.
  • After the approval of RCMC from APEDA officials, exporter may take printout of their Certificate through their APEDA Login under the heading of “View RCMC Certificate” under RCMC Menu.

 

COMPOSITION OF THE APEDA AUTHORITY

The APEDA Authority consists of the following: -

  • A Chairman, appointed by the Central Government
  • The Agricultural Marketing Advisor to the Government of India.
  • One member appointed by the Central Government representing the Planning Commission.
  • Three members of Parliament of whom two are elected by the House of People and one by the Council of States.

Eight members appointed by the Central Government representing respectively; the Ministries of the Central Govt: -

  • Agriculture and Rural Development
  • Food
  • Industry
  •  Commerce
  • Finance
  •  Civil Supplies
  • Shipping and Transport
  • Civil Aviation

Five members appointed by the Central Government in order to represent the States and the Union Territories.

Seven members appointed by the Central Govt. representing: -
  • Indian Council of Agricultural Research
  •  National Horticultural Board
  •  National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation
  •  Central Food Technological Research Institute
  • Indian Institute of Packaging
  • Spices Export Promotion Council and Cashew Export Promotion Council.

Twelve members appointed by the Central Government representing: -

  • Fruit and Vegetable Products Industries
  • Meat, Poultry and Dairy Products Industries
  • Other Scheduled Products Industries
  • Packaging Industry

Two members appointed by the Central Government from amongst specialists and scientists within the fields of agriculture, social science and economics marketing of the scheduled product.

APEDA or Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority could be a government organization, established an act for the development and promotion of export for the regular scheduled products. The schedules products are the one that are mentioned below the APEDA act and also the exporters of those products required needed to be registered below APEDA. APEDA License Registration is compulsory required for exporting of agriculture products.

Registration Cum Membership Certificate (RCMC) is a certificate which authenticate that an exporter dealing with certain products is registered with a certain agency/organization authorized by Government of India. An exporter desiring to obtain a RCMC shall declare his main line of business in the application which shall be made to the Export Promotion Council Commodity Board relating to that line of business with addresses and other required details.

The following are the reasons for cancellation of APEDA certificate:

  1. > In case the officer finds any discrepancies within the documents submitted or documents at any given time.
  2. > If the exporter fails to deliver the product inside 12months from the date of his certification
  3. > In case any of the authorities involved find any discrepancy. The authorities could be the chairman, secretory or any other officer of the APEDA administrative body

  3. > Mega food park scheme of MoFPI
  • > Scheme for Transport assistance
